^^^ Especially if you want to consistently get new leads directly from your website via search engine optimization—so you don’t have to be on social media 24/7.

Despite Showit SEO feeling overwhelming—it’s actually pretty simple at the same time. Search engine optimization is simply telling Google, “Hey, I’m going to be talking about (XYZ topic). Send people who need my services over here!”

And in this blog, I’m going to go over 8 Showit SEO tips so you can get your website ranking better in Google Search results.

Showit SEO Tips

Track your Showit website analytics

The best thing you can do to make your Showit SEO *better* is to track your website analytics. So you know if you’re actually getting traffic to your website or not. And which keywords on your website are attracting that traffic,

There are at least two ways that you should track your Showit website analytics. Install an SEO plugin like RankMath and use an analytics tracker like Google Analytics (I prefer Fathom Analytics for this and have it installed on my website as an alternative).

RankMath will give you details on how your pages are ranking and what’s changed over time. Google Analytics or Fathom Analytics will give you data on the behavior of someone when they’re on your website.

How to Reduce Your Website Bounce Rate

Create high-quality & SEO-rich content for your Showit website

Google likes to rank pages on websites that are consistently adding new content. Now, this doesn’t mean that an older blog post can’t rank in search results. But adding new high-quality content (or updating old content), like blog posts, should improve your Showit SEO.

How to Market Your Business Without Social Media

Do keyword research for blog content

Performing keyword research before writing your website content will not only help spark new ideas for the actual content—but it will also tell you what kind of content people are even searching for. After all, no matter how good the content is—if no one’s searching for it won’t help your Showit SEO.

A keyword is a couple of words or a short sentence that someone will commonly type when they’re searching for something on the internet. Keywords should be throughout your website pages and in your headings. If you don’t use keywords throughout your website pages and blog posts in most cases search engines won’t be able to easily tell what your text is about so they won’t rank it.

Long tail keywords, that include multiple words in them, are usually easier to rank for than short tail keywords.

A great tool to use for keyword research is Ubersuggest. You can type in phrases that you want to rank for and see what the most common search terms are.

Use clean website page URL names

Use clean URLs for every page on your Showit website and blog post that you write. Here are examples of what I mean by using clean URLs:

“Clean”

www.mywebsite.com/about

Google will be able to tell that this is your about page because you’re telling them it’s your about me page.

“Dirty”

www.mywebsite.com/fng8yf0h[qnpca’keqf/fi0hv=03jrnoin[x1u301881.ckppr[p

Not only will the search engines not know what this URL is about, but if someone on your website notices this weird URL they might think that your website is a scam and leave immediately which will hurt your SEO. Your Showit page URLs will be the same as your page name. But your blog post URLs can get funky if you don’t check them each time you write a new post.

Set up your Htags properly

Htags are how you tell Google what order text should be read on a single page—giving them a hierarchy of how to read it so the robots scanning your Showit website for keywords to rank for can figure out what your content is about. <<< And because Showit allows you to edit each text box with whatever Htag you want—the settings do not have to match the visual hierarchy of your text.

What’s VITAL is to make sure you only have one H1tag per page. Other headlines on your page can be H2 or H3, and paragraph text you label P. Navigation links in your head and footer should be labeled nav. The size of your fonts and which ones you’re using visually won’t matter.

Write meta descriptions for your blog posts & website pages

Meta descriptions don’t technically affect rankings, but a well-written one, that’s filled with keywords you want your website to rank for in Google searches—might make someone more likely to click on your website than the next one in the search results. And having someone click on your website is obviously a good thing because it’ll help with SEO AND potentially connect you with an ideal client #winwin

Ask Showit to add an SSL (secure sockets layer) certificate to your website

Without getting too technical turning on SSL on your website will create a secure version of your website. If you’ve ever noticed a padlock in the browser next to someone’s website URL that means that SSL is turned on. Not only is this better for your website security (and basically an internet requirement not) but this will help your Showit SEO.

To add an SSL certificate to your Showit website simply contact support and ask them to add SSL to your website.

Submit your website URLs to Google Search Console

Another thing you should do is submit all your website URLs to Google for indexing. Without getting technical indexing means that Google will scan your URLs to see what keywords are included in your page and rank it according to that.

If you haven’t already, you should submit any current pages on your website for indexing. Anytime you make a significant change in text to one of your pages you should resubmit that URL for indexing. If you write blog posts on your website—make it a habit to submit that blog post URL immediately after publishing.
