How to Make Content Marketing Fun

You already know that you need to create marketing content for your business; after all, content marketing drives 54% more leads than traditional marketing. BUT it’s easy to procrastinate and/or be inconsistent with creating and posting said content if you don’t enjoy it. I mean, who wants to spend time doing something unfun?

That’s why in this blog post, I’m going to go over how to make creating content for marketing your business fun, so that you can reach new ideal clients from your content.

First of all, what is content marketing?

Content marketing is a fancy term for creating blogs, podcasts, social media posts, newsletters, sales emails, etc. for your business to market your business. <<< So basically anything that you create for your market, your business is content.

Now, one differentiation point between content types is that some content is evergreen and some is not evergreen content. For example, a blog post is considered evergreen content because the content has a shelf life that can last for years.

Tips on how to make content marketing fun

Create the type of content that you enjoy creating

The first step to making content marketing fun is to only create the type of content that you enjoy creating. Seems like a duh, right? But let me give you an example: if you’re not into talking a lot, a podcast is probably not the right type of content for you to create, but on the flip side, if you love talking, a podcast is probably the perfect medium for you to create content. Another example would be writing: if you like writing blog posts and/or newsletters would probably be a good content fit for you to create.

Focus on creating content that your audience is requesting

It’s going to be a lot more motivating to create content that your audience is asking you for than to pick a topic out of thin air that you hope someone needs help with. Ideally, you can ask your audience on social media or email list what kind of content they’d like to see—but another way you can do this is via keyword research and scoping through Facebook groups. Odds are, if someone’s Googling a question about something or asking for help in a Facebook group, that probably means it’s worth creating a piece of content around the topic.

Post on platforms & social media sites that you like being on

Instagram is probably the biggest pain point for most creative entrepreneurs, so if you love to loathe the platform, it’s not going to be fun creating 1080 x 1080 carousels because you don’t like the platform you’re creating it for.

Repurpose your content so you’re not having to create as much

Content marketing takes time—but you’ll be more likely to create the content if it’s easier to make and you can stretch it further. The solution? Repurpose your content. I find that creating one “big” piece of evergreen content (blog posts, etc.) and paring it down for other platforms (newsletters, Instagram, etc.) works best for me.
